Employee Spotlight: Chelsea Zobl

LD Staff Writer

We want you to know more about our wonderful people (the lifeblood of our business), so we’re continuing an Employee Spotlight series to share a more personal side of LongerDays!

We asked a series of questions and decided to share the best answers for all the world to see.

Today’s Employee Spotlight is Chelsea Zobl!

1. What is your name?

Chelsea Zobl

2. What is your job title?

Virtual Business Specialist

3. How long have you worked for LongerDays?

3 years in September!

4. Hometown? Where do you live now?

I’ve lived in Muskegon since I was a very young child. I currently live in North Muskegon

5. Inhabitants at your residence (this includes pets, oh and any family members or roommates!)

The one and only Emily Niemiec, sometimes her son Nate, and Amelie – the world’s mouthiest cat.

6. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I love developing a relationship with my clients.

7. What is your go-to software or app that makes your work life a lot easier?

TomatoTimer! Another LD employee recommended it to me as a way to follow the Pomodoro Technique – and it is incredible! I sometimes start the day wondering how I am going to accomplish everything I need to do, and the timer keeps me focused enough that, by the end of the day, I’m able to finish everything and sometimes get a jump on other projects.

It builds in time to take a mental break so I’m not distracted so easily.

8. What is the best advice you can give your clients to get the best out of their experience with LongerDays?

Be prepared for bumps and mistakes. We are trying to integrate ourselves with your company. We want to make our work fit into your business as seamlessly as possible. This is a process, and there may be mistakes along the way. We do our very best to make note of those problems, and take care to avoid making the same twice. Still, patience and collaboration while we get up and running is great for everyone!

9. What is one thing you learned during your first month (or year) at LongerDays?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions… But probably Google it first!

10. What is one thing you have learned that you didn’t know before working at LongerDays?

How to fake it ‘til you make it! I am so much better at pretending I know what I’m talking about – even if I’m in a situation that is brand new and I am completely out of my element.

11. What are your Top Three life highlights so far?

Graduating from Central Michigan University, studying in Europe, working at LD!

12. What do you do when you’re not at work? Are you active in any clubs and/or organizations? Please tell us about that involvement.

I volunteer with MIMF as part of the social media team. I run the Snapchat account! I also participate in Muskegon Civic Theatre shows as much as I can.

13. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

“Don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm.” A very wise friend told me this as I was preparing to graduate college. It reminds me that while helping others is a great habit, I still have to put myself first sometimes.

14. What is one of your favorite quotes?

“Let the sunshine in.” I have this tattooed on my foot. It’s a reminder to welcome positivity into my life, rather than allow negativity to take over.

15. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would move back to Europe in a heartbeat. I lived in Brussels while I was studying there, and it remains my favorite city in the world.
